    Propane Tank Level Indicators

I would like to find an easy way to check the propane levels on our 30 lb. tanks. I'm curious if the gauge I have for my 20 lb tank used on our barbecue grill will also work on the RV tanks. It's the one that installs between the tank and fuel line hose. I'd love to hear what others have found to work for checking propane levels. Thanks!

Several of us are using the device I linked to below. It will measure the tank level to within 1/2". I really like mine.

Determining the level of propane in a tank if quite hard. You have liquid that needs to convert to gas and the proportions are not equal, freezing under high use is a issue. Most cheep gauges are wildly inaccurate, by that I mean anything that screws or adheres to the side. Don't waste your money or time with them. Weight is the only sure thing to measure.

The next best thing are tanks with float gauges inside of them to measure the liquid. They are known to be inaccurate as well but they are better in most cases. You can pick up a Manchester SureFlame or Worthington with tank with gauge built-in.

I am willing to bet that Jim's ultrasonic is accurate.

Interesting concept. Do the sensors magnets hold well enough on the bottom of the tank while traveling? I'd be afraid it would fall off. Also, did you buy 2 sensors or do you just switch it to the other tank after one of your tanks is empty?

    It comes with two sensors.
I think the magnets are plenty strong, but I had some fabric laying around and put it under the tanks to catch the sensors if they fall off.
Also, the compartment is open enough on the 303 that i didn't need the little green spacers for the bottom of the tanks.
