Self adjusting brakes?
Was reading that some of these have self adjusting brakes. Without taking the drums off, is there a way to tell what we have?
Thanks.

2017 models are supposed to have self adjusting brakes. You can pull the adjustment plug from the backing plate and see if there is an adjusting arm with a flashlight.

If you see the silver colored arm that I've highlighted in the picture below, they are self adjusting. if there is no arm, they are manual adjusting. Both versions will have the adjustment wheel. Without the silver bar, you'll need to jack each wheel up and adjust the brake tension every 3000 miles or when ever the braking becomes inadequate. In addition to the picture, I'm also adding a YouTube link on how to adjust the brakes. Also note that the first time you install self adjusting brakes, they will need to be manually adjusted also.

I don't think you can tell for sure without taking the drum off. I have taken the drum off my 17 Momentum, built in October of 16, and they are. Had to take the drum off because I lost a wheel and tire while going down the road, all lugs sheared off. When I pulled the drum I found one brake shoe worn out and metal on metal. Not sure if it was a self adjusting problem or just a shoe got stuck problem, but there was certainly a problem. All the other three brakes look great (except for one leaky seal, apparently they haven't fixed that problem yet). So I am not real sure that I am a fan of the self adjustment yet.
Take care,
Chris
