    Making the Switch

It appears that I may be taking a new position shortly and making the switch to living in my 5th wheel, while my wife hold down the fort at the house. I am starting the process of looking for a place to park my rig in the SE Maryland (Waldorf, Newburg) area year round. Doesn't seem to be a lot of places. I know I can use the couple of military campgrounds for short stays until I find something permanent. This won't be the first time I've full-timed, but it has been 12 years since the last time. Looking forward to the adventure with cautious optimism!

I am presently at Solomons NRC pretty good...You can stay as long as you pay...Just need to move sites every 6 months. The is Le Grande in Leonardtown not to bad...The only draw back is paying for electric...There is Aqualand near the 301 bridge...Not for me

Is aqualand still open? That is where I parked my unit 12 years ago. My guess is that it hasn't improved in that time. How far is the Solomons from the Metro DC area? And what does it run? I certainly don't mind moving a few times a year

That might work. I'm just waiting to see if the opportunity pans out.

Well it is official. After 38 years of working for the USCG either active duty or as a civilian, I have accepted a job offer with another government agency. Thanks to the information that nitehawk79 provided I have a place to park my rig for the foreseeable future. This will certainly be a new adventure, but living in the 369 will be a whole lot more comfortable than living in the 30' bumper pull FR product I had last time I did something like this 14 years ago. So much to do and get ready and so little time to get it all done.

Well, everything has come to all stop. I talked with HR last week, and it seems they are trying to decide how this all fits with the Presidential Memo. Still have the job (for now), but don't know when I will be starting. I think I should be exempt since technically I am not a new hire to the Federal Government. However, those decisions are made well above my pay grade. Waiting is the hardest part, but at least I still have my current job to keep the creditors happy.

Hoping it works out for you, David! My DH are doing the reverse...he is holding down the fort at home and I am full timing in our 369. First time full time and first winter. It hasn't been without hiccups, but thanks to knowledgeable GD owners and some great neighbors in the park I am at, I am surviving it. The 369 is a great FT unit for sure!
