We immediately took Spring to the vet and she did a very thorough inspection to see it there was any evidence of a bat bite on her. In addition, the animal control officer examined the bat when he picked it up. Since there was no evidence of a bite on the bat or the dog, and there was no evidence of saliva on the bat, the county decided that euthanasia or quarantine was not warranted. But they did say to keep a close eye on her. If a bat bites a dog on the face, the typical incubation time for rabies is 2-3 weeks. It's been much longer than that now. At 45 days, the chance of rabies is very unlikely. We're past that period now, and she's very healthy and rambunctious.

We started RVing with 2 cats at 2.5 years old. The kitten joined our family while we were on an extended RV trip, so she still thinks that's her primary home. The kitten travels exceptionally well. The adults cry a bit when we're changing speeds or turning a lot, but they settle down for highway driving. Our cats are indoor only, though, as Colorado has a lot of predators with a taste for kitties. At most, our cats have been in harnesses and on leashes, and only on the RV patios accompanied by both people and 2 giant, protective dogs. So yes - we travel with 5 furballs. Amazingly, the cats adapted to RVing faster than the dogs!
