Steve - thank you, for sharing all the pictures and narrative......good stuff ! Always interesting to see the various facilities in Indiana RV land and learn more about them. The customer lounge area reminds me of the nice lounge at the GDRV customer service center.

Looking forward to posts and pictures over next couple/few days and your post install feedback.

I had the trailer weighed at a GD rally last year Attachment 13754 and all came out looking pretty good. The 5er had full water tanks, and was loaded similarly to the trip I just came back from yesterday. During this trip I broke a spring Attachment 13756. Took me about 4 hrs to locate a spring, and install it at a rest stop. I contacted GD customer support to make sure I got the correct spring (they were awesome helping out, stayed on the phone about 20 minutes as we tried to find the right LCI numbers and cross reference them to get the correct spring).

I've read the older threads on MORryde IS and disc breaks, and everyone said they loved them. I'm just wondering if I "need" them ... hence the reason for my post.

We'll be selling our house in about 2 months and moving into the 384GK full time, though I'll still be working while I have a smaller house built. We'll be taking 3-4 day weekend trips every other week, and 2 to 3, 2 week vacations each year so the 5er will be on the road a bit. I'll plan on retiring for good in Jan 2021 (provided the house is finished) and then we'll be traveling 8-10 months a year = I'm pretty sure I'll get my money's worth if I do the upgrade.

Also, should I see about getting an 8k axle vs the 7K axle that's on the 384GK? I'm sure we'll be hauling more stuff with us once we move into the 5er so????

If you advise yes, get it done who do you recommend I go to? We live in Greenfield, IN so Elkhart IN is only a 3 hr drive north and I understand there is a good/excellent MORryde installation facility there. If that's that place, who should I ask to speak with?

Thanks again for any advice you have.

    Pete
To answer your heading question, no.
There are options that are just as effective and cost a fraction of what the MORryd IS costs and your braking will improve too.

For those of you with Solitudes that are already 13'5" high, can the IS be installed without raising the rig higher? I thought I read something about this a while back.

    Day 2:

Well it was a frustrating day today. Brian, the person in charge of the shop, asked us late yesterday if he could slip us a day. Our answer was "sorry" as we had set up a friends and family get-together event in Omaha for Friday evening and Saturday. We explained that most folks coming wouldn't be able to reschedule with such short notice. Today, without first contacting us, he pulled the tech off of our IS job to work on another job that was running behind. Apparently, we're not the only ones this has happened to. Yesterday (3/20) we chatted in the lounge with a couple from North Carolina that was also held over for a third day on their IS job. I had to find out about this from the tech when I stopped by the service bay and observed very little progress had been made.

Brian did call later in the day, right before he left on vacation, to inform us after the fact that they would need another day to complete the job. They obviously have commercial contracts judging by the several Cruise America Class C's and unmarked 5th wheels queued up in the customer waiting lot. I'm pretty confident we "one and done" type customers are low on the totem pole when push comes to shove. I'm not happy with the customer service side of things. So far, I am happy with everything else including the folks doing the work. Our tech is pretty confident he can have us done before 1 PM tomorrow if he isn't pulled off again. Fingers crossed.

    Hi Steve,
I was wondering how these shear springs mount as I don't recall seeing them before besides the ones on the axle assembly.

    Thanks
