One of the techs i chatted with referred to them as an old system. As I look at it, I wonder if it's even independent.

Here's one of the 7K IS "axles" that showed up for our rig. I think/hope the other axle will be here tomorrow (Day 3) and the proper shear springs will be installed then too. The disc rotors and calipers are the ones taken from the old axles. I did spring for new Timken bearings. One less issue to worry about.

    Day 2 (cont'd):

The stiffener/load distributing bars are fabricated and welded to the frame. The coroplast is put back and foamed to be water tight. I was told that the area above the coroplast was dry and dusty as it should be. Our tech said a little over half of the units come in with soggy insulation and water inside so I'm pleased to not have that issue to deal with.

I assume they've figured it out for this one being worked on today.

Our Momentum is at the legal limit and they were able to come up with a solution to have it both level and legal. You may want to call and discuss with someone at MORryde though (574) 293-1581.

For Steve Gravelle - They're using a portable Hunter system
I assume it's good for doing both toe and camber adjustments.

    Day 3:

Got to the shop around 10 AM and was pleased to find the stiffener/load distribution bars painted, IS units mounted up and new brake lines ran from our Titan EOH actuator. Brakes had been bled and tested and they were about to mount the tires.

I got to watch our tech Brenten do the alignment. It's very interesting and all done with lasers. First he got the front bar hanging from the pin box parallel to the front of the RV. Then he began alignment of the rear "axle".

Brenten had a remote display box under the RV so he could see the results of the adjustments he was making. I just watched the main monitor and tried to follow along

    Day 3 wrap-up:

After the alignment was complete, Brenten made a planed adjustment to our hitch to lower the pin box by 1.75". This completed the leveling of the trailer. After pulling it out of the service bay he made final measurements from the bottom of the frame to ground at the front and back of the unit. He went up top and verified we were still legal on overall height. The tops of the A/C units came in at exactly 13'-5" right at what's printed on GD's spec sheet.

I did a quick test drive and could immediately tell the difference. Going over railroad tracks I could feel them under the truck but felt nothing as the trailer wheels passed over them. Traveling through Illinois we had a very stiff perpendicular wind. I didn't notice any swaying or lean on the trailer. Now that we're in Iowa, it's legal again for me to ride in the trailer (not smart mind you, but legal). I'll compare it to the minor earthquake experience from before and report back.

Some may want to know about the price. We already had disc brakes so they just transferred our rotors and calipers to the IS. I asked that they replace the Chinese bearings that came with the Titan kit with Timkens. They also replaced and rerouted the brake lines from the actuator back to the calipers. All told the 7K IS + parts, labor, my option to spring for the Timkens, the 10% winter discount on IS & misc parts, 7% Indiana sales tax, etc. it came to $4063 US. Worth it? Time will tell. After three failures of the Lippert suspension system and two ruined GY 614 tires, I may pay for it in BP medication savings alone, LOL!

Thank you for the series of post on the install. While others have written up their experience, it was great to read a recent (new) write-up. Your documentation will help Fran and I prepare for our time in June.
