    Pete:

It's one thing to do a write up that leaves me wanting to spend $30 on some gadget. Now I want to drop $7k!

Great write up; just a matter of figuring when a trip to Indiana can fit in to my plans.

    Thanks.

Made it to southern IN, and all is well. We did have one spice container fall off of the rack in the pantry, but as my wife noted I hit one pretty good bump on I-69 that could have done that. Otherwise all went well and the disc breaks are A LOT BETTER than the drum breaks. I now have to worry about hitting them too hard and stopping too fast = not something I had to worry about with the drum breaks. With the drum breaks if I had to apply the breaks quickly I would hope that I'd stop quick enough, not so with the disc breaks.

So if you've got $7k sitting around looking for a place to spend it a trip to northern IN may be the way to go :-)

How do you feel about just installing the Moryde SRE 4000 system instead of the IS? Has anyone installed this system and is there a noticeable difference in the ride - Thanks

The 4000 system is just another take on solid axles and leaf springs with equalizers. It's an upgrade to the Lippert or Dexter OEM systems with stronger shackles, wet bolts, etc. It won't make the night-and-day difference the IS does. Go to the MOR/ryde site and look at the illustrations/photos of the systems to help understand the differences:

    http://www.morryde.com/product-category/4-suspension

If you have disc brakes installed along with the 4000 equalizer system, you'll be safer, though.

    Hi Rob
Thanks for reply. Can I ask if you have the IS system or the SRE 4000. If you have the IS system, do you recall the price
    Thanks

MORryde quoted me $4,250 for 8k axles and $6,800 with disc brakes. $500 less for 7k axles. That was two months ago.

As per the info in my signature, we have the MOR/ryde independent suspension. The IS with two 7,000 lb. suspension units, disc brakes and brake actuator, installed in Elkhart, IN, was $6,000 and change in September, 2016. We couldn't be happier with the suspension - and it was a great experience, too. Post #52 (page 6) of this thread has a short write-up of the experience and some photos of the installation in progress:

Brian--this may be a stupid question on my part, but "axles"? I thought the IS system did away with the axles? (I'm in email contact with MorRyde currently getting a date scheduled, so I'm trying to make sure I understand!)

Technically you are correct, Howard. The IS consists of cross-members to support the trailing link suspension (the engineering term used in the '60s and '70s for that suspension geometry) at the wheel positions. "Axles" is just quick and easy term to use.
