    New Shopper....advice from anyone towing 2500RL or 2600RB w/ 1/2 ton

Hi - my wife and I have settled on buying a new GD. We know that we
can safely tow the 2150, but would rather get a 2500RL or 2600RB. I have
a 1/2 ton, 5.3, 2015 Chevy. I know that both fall within the tow range for
most 1/2 tons, but is there anybody out there that can say they tow either
of these and it's not a huge deal? I have towed a lot of work trailers, but
none this long. If anyone has had a good/bad opinion I'd love to hear it..
    Thanks!!!!!

Your 1/2 will tow it. I can't say how safely it will tow.

First step is to look at the payload sticker on your drivers doorpost. It's the one that states tire pressures and is usually yellow. What you want to look for is "combined weight of cargo and passengers should not exceed" number in lbs.

Next step is to look at the sticker on your hitch that states towing capacity with and without a weight distribution hitch.

This will give you a starting point. Post your results and we can help.

    Examples are attached.

Hi - thanks for the replies. My GVWR on my 1/2 ton is 7K. The truck
should tow around 7K from my research. That includes the wife, dog,
stuff in the truck, ect.. When you tow, you know what feels safe or
comfortable, and I was hoping to hear from someone who say's " we have
similar set up and it's all good " or..." you might think about getting a 3/4 ton".

GoHawks, How'd this work out for you? Did you wind up buying the 2500RL and keeping your half ton?

We have a 2500RL and tow it with a F150. Have had a little porpoising but have ordered air bags that we hope will resolve it.

rather than add the bags, first check the hitch set up and the ratings of the WD bars. If the bars are not rated for the tongue weight or not enough weight put back on the TV front end could/will cause the front to back movement you are getting.

Thanks Bob, we did that weekend before last and all were within recommended specifications. My tongue weight is 850lbs, with the 10K equalizer hitch. The TV front end is only 1/2" higher hitched vs. un-hitched so my WD seems good.
