Refrigerator LP usage????
Just as an experiment I switched the fridge over to LP last Saturday. 8 days later the 30 lbs bottle is empty. That would figure out to about $120. per month or 4 bottles. My electric bill for those 8 days shows and $1.00 per day decrease in usage, or $30 per month.
Does the LP usage seem in line with your experience? I don't remember my refrigerators using that much LP years ago. But they were smaller and we were not full time then either.Pam & Ed

That seems like a lot. We have the 18 cubic foot and use LP while traveling, and it doesn't use that much, even in mid summer

Seems excessive....we did a 6000 mile 40 day trip, used some LP for cooking and a couple of nights of furnace use and we used less than one 30 lb. tank. About 120 hours of use while driving down the road, used electric when parked.

We last filled the propane tanks in February. Since then, we have traveled about 2,200 miles or about 40 hours of driving (frig on propane while under way) and cook an occasional egg on the stove (we use a crock-pot and electric skillet a lot). I just check when we pulled in to our current location and one tank is still at 100% while the other is between 1/4 and 1/3 full.

Depends on how much cool air you lost.
Were you using the refer, like, opening and closing it during those 8 days? They loose cool air quickly, then will have to run more to recover. When you are travelling, you aren't generally opening the refer.
The warmer it is outside, the more it will run to keep cold also.Steve- Inventory Manager at Tom Schaeffer's RV, Shoemakersville, PA www.tomschaeffers.com

Last summer, the electric side of our 8 cuft fridge went out. Since we were volunteering at the time and far from any repair service, we just ran on propane for two months.
Temps in the 70s and 80s.
No other gas use.
Kept fridge as full as possible.
We found that one 30# bottle would last us about 2.5 - 3 weeks.

Thank you all for the feedback. I'll have to do another test in the future. Usage did seem high to me. We used the fridge like normal as we live in this unit. Temps have been in the mid to upper 80's. We are going on a 10 day trip towards the end of the month so maybe I'll just let it run on LP for the whole trip and see what happens.
