    Cool Montana suggestions

Hey everyone. Looking at planning a trip to Montana from Southern Cal. this summer. I have a momentum and will be taking my harley as always. I'm thinking about looking up near the Flat Head Lake area as a base camp, then hitting Swan Lake (ChildHood Memories) and as many other places I can hit on the bike within a hundred miles or so. Glacier Park comes to mind. Any ideas or suggestions? I'm an avid Harley Rider looking for some gorgeous terrain to take in. Nice sweeping turns would be a plus. My route will no doubt be Calif up through Vegas, (quick stop to maybe help pay for the fuel lol) Utah, Idaho, final destination would be Flat Head. Any campsite suggestions, KOA. Also want to know if anyone knows what the handgun laws are through all those states.

I will let others offer advice on where to stay and what to see. The link I'm attaching below is for information on the handgun laws in each state. It was updated last week. It's my "go to" site for the information you requested.

Diamond S Park is in Ronan, about 10 miles S of Polson. Nice park with fairly spacious sites, shade trees, and reasonable. $29.00.

Ronan Restaurant and RV Park is about 14 miles N of Polson. Above lake on opposite side of highway. It is uphill but sites are level, some might be challenging with longer RV (ours is 36'), but beautiful, lake views. Restaurant was on limited schedule when we were there but sounds good. Advertised rate is $43.

How much time do you have?

ID hwy 12 from Lewiston to Missoula, MT. is heaven on a motorcycle. Orofino, ID has a nice RV park. Lolo Hot Springs has a place to park also.

    Here is a little sample.

Quick trip to Glacier link Tons of pics
Backpacker and tent camper all my life, including BSA as a kid and adult.
Motorcycle trips across the USA with a tent - 1978 to Present.
02-10-2005 - 2002 F350 SWD PSD and 2003 Citation 10'8S mostly for Crater Lake Ski Patrol.
    10-29-2015 - 2016 Grand Design 380TH. It's HUGE compared to a camper.
    10-19-2018 - traded truck for a 2016 Ram 3500 DRW Laramie CC 4 X 4 Long Box.
    03-16-2019 - Traded Momentum for a New 2018 374TH-R Solitude

I took Hwy 12 from Missoula to Lewiston pulling our 376. It is down hill most of the way, but not a bad drive.

Probably a bit east of where you intended but we stopped at Spring Creek Campground just south of Big Timber, MT. It's on the Boulder river, continue south on 298 and you end up in the Nat'l forest. Nice place, pretty, fishing, white water floating.

We hosted at the Savenac Historic Tree Nursery one summer. Another beautiful place. MC riding was more suited to our dual sports than a Harley. RV's are allowed to boondock up on "The Bench". The Silver Dollar Inn has some poor quality RV parking areas that offer questionable 30 amp electric, no sewer or water. If you do stop in ask for Bob Webb, he is the volunteer coordinator this year.

If you go west out of Thompson Falls on highway 471 up toward Thompson Pass you can find a side road to take you to Revett Lake, which is actually on the Idaho side. About a mile walk, trout fishing. High country lake.

Another fun thing: Hiawatha Bike Trail. It's not very difficult and is a nice bike ride.

    Dallas

    Glacier NP a must.
