Hmmm...we do have full time coverage on our 303RLS from State Farm. As others have stated if under tow then the trailer is covered by the truck policy. Other than that we have a State Farm Policy with $500 deductible policy for any other time.

Another point here referring to the above. We had a 2014 Coachman Catalina TT that was insured through Good Sam, and the TV was via State Farm. While parked and getting a bite to eat in a Cracker Barrel a guy with no business insurance that was working with a backhole on an adjacent lot swung his bucket and hit the TT. Since he was not insured we decided to post claim to our insurance and let the Insurance company sue him to recoup costs. State Farm and Good Sam got in a pissing contest because the TT was not actually being towed (was parked and hooked up to truck) about who would pay. Eventually Good Sam did. But after a 3 month long pissing contest we decided much easier to have both insured by same company to avoid that in future. Good Sam paid out for the $2000 in damage but as far was we know they never sued the guy because court cost would have been more than what they would get back.

I had State Farm for over 20 years. When we sold our home and went full time my well respected and trusted State Farm Agent told me that State Farm would not provide liability insurance on our 5th wheel because that type of insurance was covered under our homeowners, which we no longer had.

It is my understanding that you have liability coverage from your Tow Vehicle insurance while towing. But once it is unhooked it is not covered. Then there is contents insurance, totally separate subject.

So we left State Farm and went with Good Sam underwritten by GMAC. I could never talk with anyone. So we left GMAC and went with GEICO, but I learned later that we did not have liability coverage while parked. So we left GEICO and went with National Interstate, they did have a fulltimers policy, even states "Full Timer Option". However I was informed that they are no longer writing new policies and that next year we will have to change.

After some research it looks like Progressive and Good Sams are the only insurance companies that write a complete full timers insurance policy.

Good update! I talked to our niece who owns a State Farm Agency in Illinois and she confirmed what you said. They don't insure full timers, and although they insure the trailer, they don't cover the contents. She suggested looking elsewhere.

I'm not sure if this will help as we are not full time . We had State Farm on our previous TT. Will never have them again! We went with Foremost. They seem to have several RV options you might look into them.

This discussion got me to thinking and thus I called my Nationwide agent for clarification and yes part of your coverage from the TV transfers to the trailer when hooked and towing but that is only the liability portion of the coverage (at least the way my policy is written), but the physical damage portion regardless would have to be covered under the RV policy. Also your $200 per year seemed amazingly low as mine is $544 on the 2017 Reflection 303RLS (again this is bundled with my TV, Home, etc.) but they offer a pretty neat coverage in that for the first five years it is a true replacement coverage in that I would get same model, make, etc reasonably available (new) regardless of current pricing. After 5 years this resorts back to the original purchase price (still a great deal). Of course deductibles will make the premiums vary and I carry $250 on the comprehensive and $500 on the collision.

Foremost is a "specialty" type insurance company owned by Farmers Insurance. They specialize in insuring things like motorcycles, rv's, mobile homes, boats etc. don't know what they cover on an RV but would be worth looking at.

We have Progressive on both TV and fifth wheel and been really pleased. Did have to file a claim when a guy broke into our fiver in the storage yard and did lots of damage. Progressive paid replacement for everything stolen and paid for all repairs no questions asked.

The guy that broke into it had broke into most of the rvs in the facility and was living in one of them . He only came out at night to plunder.
The storage facility was fenced with barbed wire and video surveillance but that didn't stop him. He is in jail now.
