    Sofa sleeper fix

The sofa sleeper in or 384 GK was impossible to sleep on and we were tired of using sleeping bags and blankets to make it work. The way ours folded out, the end away from the window was 3" higher than the other two sections. The way the "seat" of the sofa is built, the end under the window was 5" lower than the far end. My solution was to glue 3" high density foam to the existing middle cushion. I then made another cushion for the area under the window that was 5" thick on one side and 3" thick on the other. Now we have a perfectly flat sleeping area, plus we have 3" of additional foam on the majority of the bed. We then covered the cushions with 100% cotton. The smaller cushion can be stored under the sofa. The larger cushion will have to go to some place yet to be determined (basement or front closet - it will not fit under the bed).

We're in a 369RL and we'd like to swap out our Thomas Payne-fully-Shoddy tri-fold sofa for a Lazy Boy sofa bed, but curious to know if anyone has successfully brought a new sofa through the door?!?

    Conk,
My guess if you wanted to get a new sofa in you will need to remove the large window over the kitchen table. I have seen that done to bring in a new fridge.

Conk Shell. From what I have seen on YouTube videos, removing and replacing a window isn't that tricky. You just need to reseal it when you put it back in. If it's dual pane, it will be pretty darn heavy though.

Ah, the downside to having dual pane.

    Conk,
One other consideration: you might want to get the weight of the new sofa before you buy. I would imagine a lazy-boy would be considerably heavier than the existing one. If so, just make sure you are not overly weighed down in the back. if you have the weight capacity you might consider counterbalancing with a couple of larger batteries in the front or something.

I recently purchased an IKEA couch for my aunt. It was completely modular and shipped in a box you would never believe a full size couch would fit in. If you can find something you like at IKEA I am sure it will be built as components and can be brought inside the RV one piece at a time.
