Following this conversation with great interest. I have been told that the Ecoboost has the same power at higher elevations as it does at sea level. Excellent to hear you guys confirm this !

I have a 2014 (last of the steel body) heavy payload Ecoboost F150 towing a 10,000 lb Reflection 303RLS 5th wheel. I know I am close to all limits and folks like to tell me I can't do this . . . but three years and 15,000 miles later, it seems to be working out just fine. The only "mountains" we have travelled are the Appalachians . . . so, not really mountains I guess . . . although MontEagle was close. I did add trailer disc brakes this year, for a little more confidence in those inevitable panic braking situations. We always stay under 60 MPH when towing and have averaged about 10 MPG across all those miles.

A little more "marketing" than "engineering facts", but this 2015 Aluminum F150 launch video kind of tells the capabilities story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BUzT_79wPk

Cate&Rob - No empirical test to confirm what the performance is at high elevation, but last Sept-Oct we did a loop from Denver, to Ridgeway, to Durango, to Ouray (all Colorado) and then off to Zion, Bryce, Moab and back over the Eisenhower to the flatlands of Nebraska. A great deal of the time was well over 7000 ft, and as high as 10,000. No performance issues ever pulling about 8,000 lbs.

Finally got 1000 miles on the F250. Pulled trailer last weekend. Night and day difference. IMO the F250 is the way to go with a 2670. Almost no effect from anything that passed me. Very solid and comfortable. I also followed some advice from another thread and got a breaker bar with a 1 inch socket to tighten the blue ox to 8 chain links. With the tool that blue ox provides I don't know that I would have been able to do that before without snap back to the hands. Maybe a pro pride or hensley would have been a cheaper solution than a new truck, but I have my doubts.
