Denver area campground suggestions

Need campground suggestions for an overnight stay north of Denver along I-25.

Not along your route, but since it's Denver related I'll toss this out there for future reference: We stayed at Central City KOA. Nice facility, clean, and pretty decent views.

Not a lot unless things have changed. There is a KOA at Wellington. It was an alright stay last time we were there. There is a feed lot over the hill that if the wind is from the wrong direction the smell can be bad I was told. Guess the wind was blowing in our favor that day.

If you don't mind getting off the highway a few miles and don't need full hookup, try Carter Lake near Loveland. Carter Lake and campgrounds are operated by Larimer county. Electric at site, water and dump station at south entrance.

BTW don't confuse the county operated park with Carter Valley Campground. Our GPS took us to the latter.
