    Our Journey To The Rally

Goshen here we come, TNFSolitude is on the road. Why so soon with the rally still 3 weeks away? Well we don't want to rush it and try to make the drive in one day. So, mapquest puts the total distance, our house to the fairgrounds at 171 miles. Today's leg is all of 12.3 miles, Harbortown RV in South Monroe, MI.
Whew, that was tiring. No, not the drive. But having all the kids, grandkids, more family and friends for a picnic. Between swimming, go karts, playing, cooking and cleaning up we're exhausted. Our youngst granddaughter, she's 2, is spending the night. We'll be exhausted tomorrow too until she gets picked up.

They tell us it's not the destination, it's the journey. More later as the journey continues.

We stayed put with the 2 year old visiting after her overnight stay. Two grandparents, one 2 year old, that's an appropriate ratio. Well that wouldn't last long when auntie brings over her two cousins ages 5 and 2. Now its 1 on 1. So the brave souls we are, snacks and juice boxes and off to the pool. That part was fun. Back to the camper to change and play and run up and down the stairs and get on the bed and fight over the coloring books and dump the crayons and spill a drink and get scolded about unlocking the door (me trying to make my escape) and eating more snacks and and and it was all a blur.
Finally it was time for auntie to leave and she takes all three, yesssss! Open a new bottle of wine and enjoy the quiet. Leftovers for dinner, but so what. We have wine.

Still 158.7 miles from Goshen fairgrounds.

If you don't pickup at lease another 17 miles by Saturday, I believe you will be pushing the envelope for making it to Goshen on time.

Oh yeah, don't forget to check your fuel gauge. You don't want to be caught on the road looking for fuel.

Haha. That episode really hit home. We just finished 21 consecutive days of grandchildren visiting us at home. It sure seems quiet around here.

Tom and Nancy, I do hope that the remaining miles don't stress you out terribly. Enjoy a 2nd bottle of wine tonight and maybe another along the way. Enjoy the rest of the loooong journey to the rally!
    See you there

Day # 3, we're still at Harbortown. If you have the 2 yr old granddaughter spend the night with us, then it's only fair to have the 5 yr old granddaughter spend the night. So, back into the pool, play with kinetic sand and playdoh, more go karts, some putt-putt golf, a walk to check out the other campers and think about renting the camping cabins for next year's family get together and what the heck is kinetic sand?
Granddaughter gets a bath and goes to bed. We finish yesterday's bottle of wine.
Not worried about fuel yet, we haven't moved an inch. Our average miles/day is going to need some work.

So, we're still 158.7 miles from the Goshen fairgrounds.

I think your miles to the Goshen fairground are going to be going up instead of down . Looking forward to our pre-rally.
