Aurora, NE; a little bit overcast but still seeing the sun through the high clouds. A chunk missing out of the top. I'll post pics if any turn out.

The sun looks like a crescent moon through these glasses. 18 minutes until totality. Crickets are chirping.

Wait, there's an eclipse today? I wish the news was covering this (end sarcasm).

Down here in Orange County, CA it looked like it was a day with heavy smoke (or smog). Got to see "the peak" at 10:21 with a welding mask.

Further observations; everyone cheered, road noise absolutely stopped, street lights came on, we could see one planet in the darkened sky, the temperature cooled down noticeably.
We settled into Refshauge Park in Aurora, NE. There was normal traffic on Hwy 14, it was kind of warm and humid, the park was filling with people, the parking lot had vehicles from many states visiting. But for 2 1/2 minutes it was awesome to see the corona. That sliver of light disappeared and then the light burst from around the moon creating the corona. Just Incredible!
The next solar eclipse is April 8, 2024, if everything stays the same we'll be on the road coming home from Florida. We'll just have to find a place to camp and come home a day later.
