Grand Design RV Campground Now Open
Ginnie and I had the honor of being the first campers in the GDRV service center campground. GDRV set up eight sites with 30/50amp power and water for customers who are traveling to their service center for work. The power is not connected yet, so plan on camping with battery or generator power if you get there before they complete the installation. We had an appointment this morning at 7am so it was sure nice to get up and not have to move that early. Once there, it's a very short walk to the service center office to get checked in at our appropriate appointment time. After getting checked in, the service center employees brought a tractor out to the campsite to pick up the RV, and then they took it to the service center dump station to dump the holding tanks before they went to work on it. I was very pleased that they were so accommodating.
We need to leave our unit for 5-6 days. They are changing out all the cabinets due to shrinkage in the Arizona climate. We were fortunate that we have relatives in the area that permitted us to unload our rig and store our possessions in their barn. If you need to unload, you might check with a local storage unit to see if they might offer a short term storage option.
Grand Design plans on letting customers stay in their units overnight if it won't affect repairs. If this won't work for you, there are lots of hotels in the area. We elected to stay in a KOA Kamping Kabin which makes it really easy when you have dogs. The KOA has a dog run and plenty of places to walk them which a hotel won't be able to provide.

They don't do that now Marcy, but you might suggest it to them. Another suggestion would be to have on site storage containers for those who need to empty their trailet for repairs.

Jim,
I think the storage containers would be a great idea. We dropped off our unit last month and I have a garage full of stuff that would be great right there in storage. When you pick up the unit staying a night right next door would be a good opportunity to ensure everything is working correctly.
Nice repair facility they have.
Should have had you check in on ours. Looking forward to getting it back.
