    A "qualified" RV dealer . . . interesting concept .

    @cebreeding Yes to what el Rojo said... I was referring to main wire.
    @Cate&Rob My thoughts exactly :-)

    I've been a licensed electrician for almost 40 years. I wonder, what "qualifications" does a dealer have? I'd sleep better at night knowing my unit was installed by a competent electrician than a "qualified" RV dealer.

    Sounds familiar, I became an electronic technician in 1968 and continued working in the field until my retirement last year.

    Carl, I joined the ranks of the voluntarily unemployed on June 1 of this year. So far it's been grand!

    Guess I didn't read far enough in this thread as I really liked the placement of the unit when I saw this but didn't get far enough to see the qualified part. There was even another thread I responded to where I didn't think it would be an issue to self-install this unit, assuming it is installed competently. Well, let me tell you, just because you can show them a receipt doesn't mean anyone was any more or less qualified. I worked in this business long enough to know that means nothing. I am confident that if I have any issues with my self-installed unit, there will be no problems with Progressive Industries as long as it was installed correctly and competently. Just document your install and do it right. And as Jerry said, it would probably be no more expensive in the long run as long as you didn't burn the coach down. Just make sure your comfortable with doing it.

    Jim, I copied this just now from Progressive Industries warrant page on their website.

    "Improper installation of a hard wired unit. We strongly recommend that a competent electrical
    professional perform the installation of hard wired units"
    (emphasis mine)

    There was no exclusion for self-install. The warranty that came with my unit reads the same. I'm not sure where the confusion originated unless Progressive made a change and there are two versions out there.

    Safe Travels.

    What about if you have an electrical issue during your warranty period? Will GD try and blame "outside work" and deny warranty coverage?
