As many have heard about the Carr fire currently burning in Northern California, there has been a concern on whether the rally will proceed.

Yes, as of right now the rally is still on track as usual with no plans to cancel it. Jenn and I are actually heading to Durango RV Resort, where the rally is to take place, next weekend for their 10-year anniversary and I will post pictures and possibly even do a live video while there.

The fire that is concerning, the Carr Fire, while in the Northern California region, is more than 30 miles north of Red Bluff where the rally is to take place and as of today, is 41% contained and with the rally still being over 5 weeks away, I am sure that the fire will be out and over with way before the rally approaches.

We have arrived at Durango and although it’s a tad smoky, it’s really not that bad and I’ve got extreme asthma. So yep, as of now the rally is still a go as usual. Also, the Carr fire up this way, last I hear was now over 50 % contained. So ya, by the time the rally gets here, the fire should be out and the smoke cleared.

Good news, I just heard from the attending Grand Design tech that he would like more items for the maintenance list as he believes, what he can do on-site, he can get through what he has so far. HOWEVER, we may be short on techs at the rally and the items that will be looked at will be the priorities as mentioned below. All preventative maintenance issues and small issues, need to be scheduled with your purchasing or local dealer to be handled and will not be handled at the rally; such as cracked trim is needing to be replaced or wheel bearing packs and black valves.

When it comes to the maintenance list of items collected and how it is viewed by the techs, it is viewed in an order of importance as suggested below, not who signed up first, not who has the most items, not who believe they are special and should get better treatment, importance. And no, the techs will not be contacting everyone individually if they are not able to get to your issues. There will also be a set a limit of 3 items to be looked at if you have issues.

1st Priority: emergency items, these are items that cause the RV to be non-operational so to speak; propane leak, heater/AC doesn’t work, the fridge doesn’t cool, slide closing improperly, etc.
2nd Priority: recalls, especially safety issues.
3rd Priority: major issues.

If you need to add a MAJOR issue to your registration to be looked at, go to this link, https://www.eventbrite.com/mytickets/??????????/, and replace the ?????????? with your registration ticket number and add your maintenance issue. DO NOT change your arrival or departing dates without first consulting me as these are the days I have you down for and with the resort and if you change your days, you may be SOL.

Once last little word of advice, if you have an issue with how the maintenance tech work is handled, come to me, do not give the techs an attitude at the rally.

A few updates as the rally is nearing.

The schedule is coming together and I should be to the point of sending it out, along with all the other informationals, within the next week or so.

As of right now, dinners Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, lunch on Sunday afternoon, and a coffee/donut breakfast Friday will be provided. There is going to be a site decoration contest and at the end of rally sports themed party, there will be a prize for the best sports-themed dressed COUPLE (over 18) and a prize for the best sports-themed dressed child (under 18).
