    Hi Steve,

I put dishwashing soap and fill the tank about 1/4 full of water. Then right before we leave I dump a 10lb. bag of ice down the toilet. The ice will usually "scrub" the side walls of the black tank. Before I put the 5er up for the winter, I take the wand and run it down the toilet to the black tank for about 10 minutes then drain the black tank. Usually keeps everything working.

If I ever get lots of idle time I might try building something like: Liquid Level Sensing Using a Laser ToF Sensor

But the black tank could be a hazardous location (Class I, Div I) like gasoline tanks

Water is your friend. Use a clear elbow, open the black tank and run the black tank flush until it is clear. With Black tank flush still running, close the black tank and let it fill back up. Open the black tank and let run until clear. Close black tank and let black tank flush pump another ~5 gallons of water in. Leave that ~5 gallons in the tank until next trip.

Are you sure it is the black water tank? I just bought a 2016 Solitude 300GK and after a lot of frustration re tank gage readings, trial and error etc found that the black and grey valves were labeled wrong (reversed).
