Just pulled out 2017 Reflection 311BHS with our "new to me" 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 DRW 4x4 to Port Aransas Tx and back to Austin. Getting 10.2 there and 9.8 back to Austin. I thought the gas mileage was horrible because I used to get between 11-14mpg in our 2012 Chevrolet 2500 4x4 Z71. After re-reading these post maybe pulling with a 3500HD 9-10mpg is what I should expect.

I got the 3500HD because it seemed to provide a better ride than the 2500. Not as much jerking on take off, better breaking and better inside comfort. I just never thought that the gas mileage would be as big of drop off. The DW is planning on retiring in the spring of 2019, which will give us more time to travel. I'd like to take the grand girls to Yellowstone NP and across Wyoming to Mt. Rushmore. Looks like I'll be filling up at almost every gas station I see!

Pulling an Airstream vs a typical camper front cap according to what the OP said, the Airstream should pull better and you should get better gas mileage.
