    Shenandoah National Park

We're planning a trip to Shenandoah National Park next year. Looking for full hook or at least electric and water.
Planning on hiking, kayaking, hopefully fly fishing and trip to DC Smithsonian.
Meeting others midway as we are in VT and they are in FL.

    Any recommendations?

Shenandoah State Park. Water, electric, dump station. Poor to no cell and TV reception.

There are no hookups at the campgrounds in the park except for a few handicap sites, and for the camp hosts.

Misty Mountain Campground is at the bottom of the Blue Ridge near Crozet, and that would be a good place to camp for access to re southern most entrance. Luray has several campgrounds and is located near the Thornton Gap Entrance. Near Front Royal (northern entrance) is the Shenandoah River State Park which I have heard is nice.

Shenandoah River State Park has very nice sites. But they don't have a lot of sites. You can make a reservation, but not for a specific site number. It's first come first served as to what site you take.

Thanks for the responses. We don't need to worry about TV or internet.

We would prefer full hookups but if only electric and water that would be ok. could use the blue tote if needed.

We plan on being there for a week.

At Shenandoah River State Park the sites in the lower loop are now site specific reservations.

Try looking at Fancy Gap KOA near the southern part of the Trail in VA. Full hook ups and 3 spots even have dog runs on the back side of the site. Also it is right down the road to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Look at Sherando Lake which is part of the Forest Service. It is at the northern end of the Smokies. They have electric and water but you will need to use the dump station. Weekends in Shenandoah National and the Forest Service parks book quickly. Weekdays are rather easy to book. If you plan to stay over a weekend, it is best to book as early as you can. The locals head into the mountains on the weekends.
