Towing the 303rls
I'm interested in purchasing the 303rls and wondering if anyone tows theirs with a gas 3/4 ton pickup. I have a 2017 Ford F250 Gas model with the 6.2 liter engine. It's rated to pull 12500 pounds and has a 3300 pound payload capacity. I would prefer a diesel, but they are too far out of our budget to buy one.

Towing a 337 with mine, all within weight ratings and does great (verified three times on fact scales). The weight police/diesel dually brotherhood will have you trading for an f 450 but just keep an eye on your loading and you’ll be fine. Just pulled in from Augusta ga to Huntsville al last night, 60 to 70 mph a g 9.1 mpg.

I tow my 303RLS with a Ram 2500 with the 6.4l. So far so good. It will rev much higher than a diesel, but that's what gas engines do.

I'm towing a (slightly larger) 337 with a 2016 F250 gasser and, while I am shopping for a diesel, I'm not unhappy with the gasser and I'm not in a hurry to swap it out.
I ran out of torque going up a little hill (like 17 degrees little) from a dead standstill and my wife decided we needed a diesel. That's kind of an unusual situation, easily avoided. Other than that, my only real complaint about the 6.2 engine is the limited fuel range towing. I typically get about 8 mpg towing at 63 mph - less with a headwind. One solution to that is a long bed with larger fuel tank, but that comes with a whole nother set of complications.
At first I was a little dismayed when I found myself in 3d gear and 5000 rpm just going over an overpass, until I figured out that is just the way gas engines run - they need the rpm to make the power they need.
Before the 337, that same F250 was towing a 30' fiver with an actual weight around 10,600 and had no complaints except the poor mileage and that RV was a little easier to maneuver around a gas station. As long as you're aware of these constraints, the 303 and 6.0 engine are a good fit.John and Jean

OP,
You will do fine with that set up. The 6.2 is a bullet proof and very reliable engine. The m.p.g is what will be less than stellar. Expect anywhere from 6-10 m.p.g towing depending on conditions. I had a 2012 F-250 with the 6.2 gas and pulled a crossroads cruiser fiver that weighed around 9500-10000 loaded and it did well. Its just gotta make rpm's to do it. After our recent trip west we traded in our 2015 Ford gas 250 for a 2017 Ram diesel 3500. My husband could not handle the stress of going up the mountains slower than the truckers and the constant down shifting. I-70 west on the other side of Denver was a real eye opener. Now my husband is happy and I have a lot of western trips in my future!

Since you have a gas truck you have the more payload then some of the 2017 diesel trucks. Towing Planner says your pin should be around 2282 loaded ready to camp and the 5er should weight about 10765. That will leave you about a 1,100 for passengers, stuff and hitch in the truck and still under your towing capacity. If this was a F250 diesel you have lots of power to pull it but you would probably be over the payload and could even be over the axle ratings and tire ratings.

You will do okay, but you will be max'd out. The mpg may be tough on your pocketbook, howeever. But trading trucks may be a much bigger hit.
If you intend to do any long distance or extended travel, a diesel might be warranted.

I tow my 303RLS with the Ford F250 6.2 gas! Sure you can tell it's not a diesel on the hills, but other than that... It tows it fine! Keep the RPM's up on the hills and it does just fine! People always seem to think that when the engine is wound up doing 5000rpms, that it's going to BLOW UP, but the engine can run at that rpm with no problems!! I only use synthetic oil and NEVER use the cruise control when going up hills!! Always put the transmission in manual mode so YOU have control of when to shift!! Never go up hills with the transmission in Auto mode and the cruise control on! The gas just can't keep up with the cruise control on... It will downshift and even rev the engine all the way to redline! The 6.2 is fine if you understand it's limits and understand how your transmission works with hills!
