    furnace odor

My 2017 29RS emits an odor when the furnace is on. I am suspecting that it smells like wiring insulation burning. The odor irritates our eyes. I have not yet looked at the furnace area. I wanted first to see if anyone had experienced this situation.

Could it be the residual manufacturing oil on the heat exchanger that is "burning" off? I think ours did that for the first time or two that we used it. It went away after a day or two of use.

Mine did that the first several times. Burning eyes and oil burning smell. It got better each time we used i5 and it totally went away eventually.

Does it smell a little like when you turn on an electric heater after it's been sitting for a long time, burning the dust off of the elements? If so, that's normal - especially the first time you use it in a season. It goes away pretty quick.

It will go away after a few times. Mine scared me and actually set off the smoke detectors it was so bad. After about 3-4 times of use it went away for good.

I think it’s the preservative anti-rust oil that is on the heat exchanger at manufacture.
