Bless you, Jim. Amazing what one can find when they know where to look - and put on their reading glasses.
I use antennaweb.org and set my compass bearing to the weakest station I want to watch, hold the compass next to the antenna knob and I'm homed in. Less than 30 seconds.
I've looked at the signalfinder gizmo, but my understanding is that it points at the strongest signal. I can usually pick up the strongest signals without even rotating the antenna, it is the weak signals that are hard to home in on. A similar situation would be when one is located between two or more major cities and you're trying to bring in specific stations.
Thanks again.John and Jean

Installed the King SL1000 Digital TV Signal Finder . . . and was not particularly impressed. It basically confirmed what I already knew from looking up signal direction on the Antenna Point app (see attached) and using the iPhone compass to aim the antenna. I was only able to get two of the four signal strength lights on the SL1000 to light (maybe because all sources are about 50 miles away) The "max signal strength" arc was about 30 degrees in both primary signal source directions. The meter seemed less accurate at fine tuning exact direction than the Antenna Point and compass combination. There does not seem to be any way to link the signal strength meter to the exact channel you are looking for . . . unless I am missing something .

Original Bat Wing replaced with King Digital Antenna Question
Here’s what I’m after. I installed the ota module on my Dish dvr to get additional channels. Hooked up the original bat wing that came with our 379fl and I can get some channels but they hardly lock. I’m about 42 miles from Indy. I want to find an Omni directional antenna to replace my original that will improve reception. I want to replace it where the original goes. I want to get away from aiming. Help.
Changed my mind. It’s not hard with the one I have.
I don’t mind aiming I just hate missing some stations.Last edited by Sparkydh; 09-27-2020 at 12:01 PM.
