    Jim,

How right you were. Somebody did just rub grease on the zerk as there wasn't any grease in the wet bolts. I lubed them all including the Dexter equalizer. In fact I had to take one zerk off as it would not accept any grease and would just squirt out the side of it no matter how hard I held it on. I then tried to take the zerk out and I almost couldn't get it out it was so tight. I had to end up with a big channel locks to loosen it and it popped when it came loose. Way to tight and one side of the zerk looked like it had been ground down some with a grinder and this was the reason grease just came out the side. It now has a new one installed.

On the hangers there is just a stamped part nymber no Lippert stamp.

My question is, how far was it towed with the bushings dry?
They cannot be run dry without damage.
Been there done that and bought the T shirt.

I had a Laredo with Dexter suspension. It came with bronze bushings and standard bolts. After a couple thousand miles I installed heavy shackles and wet bolts. When I disassembled the suspension the bronze bushings were still in good shape and didn’t require replacement. I would think if the mileage is relatively low the bushings should be okay.

I just use an all purpose grease from any auto supply store.
I'm happy to know that GD is using Dexter suspension and wet bolt kits now.

The only mileage that mine had was from the factory to dealership and then to our house. Total around 800 miles. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that I got them taken care of early enough to not cause any problems. Time will tell.

I had to take it to the dealership today to get a few items fixed but it is all lubed up now.

Bushings shouldn't show any wear in 800 miles.

Standard bolts would be better than wet bolts when run dry.
I got a little lazy with pumping the grease one time. The hole in the wet bolts played havoc with the bushings.

The grease is supposed to be there for a reason, just like the oil in the engine.

I currently am using the Lippert never fail bushings. They have been in about 3 years so far, still working well. If they continue to last, they may make my prefferred equipment list.

I didn’t think that little hole would have such a negative impact. I agree that the wet bolts should be kept lubed. I considered never fail bushings when I installed wet bolts. Glad to hear they work so well.
