Thanks for the suggestions. I am ordering a new twist on valve to see if the first one was just defected. I do think I might try to attach it more permanently as well. I am a little nervous to add some screws. I hate to do some thing permanent and possible mess up (I'm not that handy). I like the idea of cable ties or wiring it one. Does anyone have a photo of that for inspiration or advice for adding screws?

If you put a set screw in, then later remove the gate valve, be sure to put the screw back into the empty hole.
