    Need help with dryer parts

We have a Ariston dryer TVM63X(NA) (commercial code 63076).

It was smoking with an electrical burnt smell. We got the power off and removed it from the camper. Now when testing, it runs but does not heat up. I'm having a difficult time finding a website to order a heating element. Does anyone have a goods parts website I could try?

My understanding is that parts are available via Westland Sales (the Importer) and some internet sources. Indesit is owned by Whirlpool and they have merged the Hotpoint and Ariston brands internally.

What you describe could also be a thermostat.

The service manual for the TVM63x is at http://www.splendide.com/service/Trainman63X.pdf The parts manual is at http://www.splendide.com/service/TVM63XNA_Parts.pdf

It looks like there are two heating elements - Blasi and DBK. It seems that DBK is the preferred replacement. The part number seems to be C00142633

It comes up on a number of sites in the UK. I'd hit up Westland Sales and see what they recommend.

Thanks RamGunner. Yes I found an open circuit on one of the thermostats. It's a L109C. Not sure why I got the burning smell when nothing looks like it got hot or burnt.

I will say I found a coating of lint inside dryer. Had we not been close it could have been nasty. I think I'll take the dryer out and open it up for a visual inspection once a year now.

Normally the element won't produce a smell before it goes out. I would be looking for a smoked wire somewhere. At the element, at the timer, at the terminal block or somewhere else.
Unplug it and look with a bright flashlight.

Looks like the bad thermostat has a darker color than the good one. No other burnt parts or wires found. Going to change the thermostat and go from there.

Even a bad thermostat can "look Perfect" but not function. I hate seeing people buy parts trying to fix something when it's something simple or cheaper.

Dryer element don't go put much these days. Too many thermo's protecting things.

Let us know what Westland says. I haven't had to deal with them, but I don't believe that they could possibly be worse than Pinnacle.

RamGunner, you'll be happy to hear that when I called Westland sales the guy knew the part I needed. He even said "you mean the two thermostats next to the heating element".
