The major factor in the F250 payload is the camper package. The camper package essentially puts F350 springs (but not axle) on an F250. My '16 F250 CC SB 6.2L with camper package has a sticker payload of 3209 and that is about 600# under the combined axle ratings. A bigger problem is the RAWR of 6100#.

Those numbers are for the 6.2 gas. You show you have the 6.7 diesel.
    Here's the Ford fleet specs.

Look on your door jamb for the yellow cargo sticker. Since you have a Platinum I'm guessing you only have 2000-2150 lbs for cargo.

I personally wouldn't want a generator spewing carbon monoxide in my fifth wheel. We never boondock and wouldn't use it anyway.

If I did boondock, a portable genny would work for me.

I did see a Reflection fiver the other day with a portable generator on the back. The genny sure was bouncing up and down.

Here is a video from RV Safety that explains it better than I can.

OEM gens don't spew CM in the trailer unless someone did the install themselves and did a hack job. Most every gen compartment I've seen are a sealed compartment with the exhaust routed outside the trailer. Almost every motorhome has a gen. I never hear anyone complaining about CM inside.

I agree about the portable part. I have a nice light weight Honda 2000W we used when we dry camp. We don't live where temps are in the 90's to 100 all summer so we don't need to run the AC. Works great for us. We don't like the sardine can style camping so having the gen lets us stay for as long as we have water and gas.

I installed an Onan 3600LP in an 2001 Arctic Fox 5th wheel, which had a generator compartment from the factory. I still had to hook up the LP, electrical, ventilation, etc. A lot of work, but functioned fine when completed. Problem with an LP generator in a trailer is that they suck LP if you use it much, which would be a major problem with all of the cold weather reports we are hearing about. If you go with gas or diesel generator, you have to carry yet another kind of fuel with you and install a fuel tank.

I've also had 3 motor homes since the 5th wheel, all with factory installed generators. Very nice to have and almost a necessity in a MH.

When I switched to my current 297RSTS Reflection TT, I decided to go the Honda EU2000i portable route for boondocking, which we don't do much of. We live an southern AZ, and I've found that boon-docking in the 100 deg. AZ desert in the summer is a loosing proposition, no mater what you do. If we camp in the summer here, we make sure we have hookups, 50 amp if possible.

Best of luck on your research and purchase.

Even in FW you're looking around $5-6K for prep and a Cumins Onan. If you're not sure whether you'll need one or not, try camping 1 season without and make a note of every time you would have used one. Most portable 2k gennys weigh approx 150#. When in doubt...YouTube the subject and ask your local dealer where you bought the GD. That's the beauty of buying from your local dealer instead of buying across the country to save a few $$.

Why would a local dealer be more likely to be honest than some other dealer? Actually, I've found local dealers (and not just GD dealers) to come up with more BS.
