Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island
We are planning a trip to this region. Anyone have suggestions on places to stay when there? We have seen the tides rise and fall in the Bay of Fundy and it was a great experience. We are thinking of heading out to Cabot Trail for a few days. Looking for ideas on things to see and places to stay. Is Prince Edward Island worth a stay for a night, or is it a day trip?

Nova Scotia:
Halifax is nice; especially liked going to the Tatoo and walking along the water front.
Halifax: Titanic Grave Yard has a bit of history
Peggy's Cove: although crowded it's probably a must-see (day trip & doable from Halifax area)
Truro: find a nice spot to see the Bore Tide (lots of locations)
Lunenburg: the city itself is OK but go to "The Ovens" in that area (historic caves) (day trip & doable from Halifax area)
Mahone Bay: picturesque (day trip & doable from Halifax area)
Annapolis Royal: nice place, nice fort, historic
Chetiecamp: Cabot Trail, nice water front (get some Pineapple/Orange ice cream)
Cape Breton Highlands National Park (get reservations if you plan to stay here)
Chetiecamp: Mary Anne Falls; Englishtown Ferry (car only - just a short ride, but fun)
Baddeck: Bras do 'or Campground
Louisburg: great fort, nice train museum, the Beggar's Banquest (dinner show like no other)
Point of View RV Park
Timberland Acres RV Park (forgot exactly where this is but maybe St Martin)
St. Martin area: The Caves Restaurant (best chowder ever)
PEI:
KOA Cornwall is OK
meh - we could take it or leave it
Ann Of Green Gables
some light houses
if you like - the College of Piping has a good show
So many places to go, so little time. Can we come along?? Have fun!!
oh - stay along Fundy Bay somewhere. I think we stayed here: Cove Oceanfront Campground, Granville Ferry, NS B0S 1K0, Canada. The sunsets (and airline traffic in the skis) is incredible.Larry KE4DMG

Nova Scotia - traveldawg hit all the hot spots, I can add..
Cabot trail is a must. Meat Cove is a neat stop. There's a campground there if you want to spend the night. There's a few KM's of dirt road to get out to Meat Cove, it's always been in good shape on my trips. I've seen whales from the road out, and many other places along the shore line.
"The Damn Dutchman's Cheese Farm" in Economy near Parrsboro has excellent cheese. Definitely worth a stop.
Shag Harbour near the southern tip is an interesting stop.
Annapolis Royal has a tidal power generating station with a visitor center and gave tours that were pretty cool.
PEI - We always did day trips over to PEI from where ever we were staying in NS. In addition to traveldawg's recommendations...
Green Park Shipbuilding Museum
Newfoundland/Labrador
If you have extra time (and money) to spend in the area, you can take the ferry over to Newfoundland. It's about the best destination I've ever been to. A lot like Alaska, but at 1/10th the scale. The northwest portion of the island is like the moose capital of the world! We saw icebergs and whales along all the shores. You could easily spend a week in NL, plenty of stuff to do.
If you're up in northwest Newfoundland a day trip ferry ride over to Labrador to see the Viking ship in the Red Bay museum is pretty fantastic.2018 Solitude 310GK

Thank you all for the excellent tips! We did see the tidal bore on the last trip and it was interesting watching folks try to surf on them. We agree that the chowder at the Caves Restaurant was excellent, too, and is a must stop when in the area.

We are also planning to make this trip this summer so appreciate all the information being shared! One question I have is do we need to reserve campsites in advance or can we expect to always find campsites available?

When traveling to Canada are the electrical hookups the same as the US or do you need to do something different in order to plug into shore power?
