Question about Battery, Propane, and Refrig while towing.
Our maiden voyage went well. But we noticed when we pulled over for lunch on the return home that the ceiling light and the lights above the refrig would not come on even though we were plugged into the tow. We had the refrig set to automatic and had the propane on, but the light above the refrig to tell it was working were not on. It seemed cold in there, but we could not figure it out. When we got home, we thought, but don't know, we must of turned off the battery switch in the bay, and it probably why the interior light were not working. But the real question is, if the battery switch was off in the bay, would that cause the lights on the top of the refrg not to work? Would the propane still work to cool the refrig even though the battery switch in the bay was off?

In regards to going down the road with propane on.......a long debated issue. Here's a link of a you tube video (and I'm sure there are others about this very subject) that's kind of an eye opener...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnd4...ature=youtu.be

Hello,
The fridge will not cool on just propane. The control circuitry needs to have power from some source.

Yep, the battery switch needs to be on unless your connected to shore power. I leave mine on all the time, that way the battery is also being charged when plugged in. That refrigerator circuit board runs off of 12v.

I think the switch needs to be on even if on shore power. The refer control board always runs on 12v.

Yes, but only if the switch is on.
Edit 2: if batt is not present and some connections are made at the battery, all the pos wires must be connected together and neg wires connected together. The switch is between the battery and the fuse panel. Converter connects to system on battery side of switch.Last edited by JCR GD; 01-11-2018 at 10:07 PM. Reason: More Clarification kinda

I stand corrected! (Sorry for the confusion)
On my Momentum the converter supplies power to the 12v systems whether the cut off switch is On or Off.
So in my case, I guess if the switch is Off then the converter won't charge the battery because the converter apparently joins the system on the fuse panel side of the switch not the battery side. Hmmmmm
My last trailer was the other way.Jim (& Sharon)
