Sometimes it's fun being the spoiler and holding tight in my lane putting along toting the 5er at almost the speed limit. I see nothing wrong with driving the center lane while towing slightly below the speed limit . ( Gary already told you all I have a lead foot )There is the left lane to pass, but 75% will pass on the right with a clear left lane to choose then look at you like you shouldn't be on the road at all...Last I knew passing on the right was a ticketable offence.
I do move over for semis , many times they can't even drive the left lane.

My favorite is the idiot merging who tried to push me and our 303 out of the right lan
e at the very end of the merge...no go dude traffic is to heavy I'm not going anyplace and he was forced onto the shoulder. Guess he thought he could intimidate a lady towing??? he found out otherwise . Then he regained his rightly place behind us. As he passed his arms were waving at me, My guess is there were fingers involved. I smiled ,waved back and kept driving.

In larger cities traffic getting on can be quite slow so we have found it to be safer to stay in the middle lane, leaving the left lane open for the faster traffic.
Same here. Did the same when driving semis, and a lot of others do. Reason being, so many people don't know how to get on the freeway. They don't pay attention and then at the last minute will finally accelerate and merge. So being in the RV/Semis, you're always adjusting then speed for them, when in reality, they should be up to speed and then adjust to merge.

I'm even more amazed how many people don't know what the wider hashed lines for a lane indicate.

Definitely don't understand the concept of the acceleration lane. When going through a large town, I'll stay in the middle lane where possible.

A few years ago, my sister was bringing her brand new class A home from Dallas, going through Austin I told her to move to the middle lane and keep a steady speed. Wouldn't you know it - guy pulling a small utility trailer that was fish-tailing all over the service road entered the interstate. Little trailer promptly started major fish-tailing and he crossed from the entrance ramp to the far left lane, hit the concrete wall and started back. We were able to stop before he came back across the interstate, just missed us. Did take out 3 vehicles and ended up back on the service road. If she had been in the right lane, he would have hit her first and it probably would have been worse for everyone involved. Now I kinda take a quick glance when I'm approaching an entrance ramp to see who's coming.
Les, Austin, Texas drivers in general - OMG! I live halfway between ABIA and Bastrop just off highway 71. It has become a race track. Posted speed limit 70 - they drive 80-85. Then they come up behind someone in the left lane doing 60 and tailgate the crap out of them. Speed demons swerving in and out of traffic lanes. Even when I'm towing in the right lane at 60-62, I've stopped watching my RV rear camera!

Traveling around southern California I get out of the far right lane as soon as possible. I pretty much assume whoever is joining the highway thinks they just magically end up in the lane without having to pay attention to other traffic already on the highway that is approaching behind them. 2 lane highway, sure I stay in the far right as much as possible. 3 or more, far right + 1 all day long. Plus I am new to this, so I acknowledged early on that my cautiousness is worth more than someone else being upset I am not going 10 over the speed limit.
