I'd use THHN/THWN stranded wire as its thicker strands retain proper grip under the screw down terminals in the circuit breaker panel versus finer stranded SO type cable.
THHN/THWN is UL listed for this use. SO type is UL listed for portable cords/machines/extension cords.
    X2!

Also since your in there check to see if all your terminals are tight.

I recommend what you are suggesting. This is what I did in my 399TH.

Easy install. Probably less than 1hour. Most of the time spent was determining the best location. My thought is that an inside unit is much better. Not available to be stolen, protected from weather, and eliminates one step when setting up camper.

The portable, plug in I had from the same manufacturer lasted through part of one rain storm.

    Thanks for the great info.

I just purchased the Progressive EMS while it was on sale at Amazon.

I was going to cut the house wiring between the outside and the transfer switch. Now; I will add 2 ft of wire between the transfer switch connection and the EMS. When I sell the 380TH, it will be easy to just put the wires back into the transfer switch.
