You might want to check with Lippert before installing aftermarket items on the frame,,,warranty issues.

My wife and I really like the 310GK and the only thing keeping us from buying is this hitch issue. I have a street legal trials bike GasGas Contact 280 ES that weighs 170 lbs and two light weight mountain bikes. With a hitch installed and my bikes, I suspect I would be around 250 lbs out back. From what I have researched the frame is only 10 inches on the 310GK and I suspect from every ones weights they have posted the rear axle and tires could end up over loaded when you are loaded up for extended trips. I can not believe that Grand Design does not build in a allowance for a 250 lbs (total weight) hitch.
Call me crazy but I have thought about installing the Morryde IS 8000 suspension with disk brakes. This would solve the rear axle issue and I am currently running the Goodyear G114 tires on my current rig that I would swap over. This only leaves the issue of the 10 inch frame being able to handle that extra weight and not having flex/slide out issues. Of course these mods would void any factory warranty.
We could just buy a Northwood Artic Fox 29-5T which has 12 inch frame and option for installing 250 lbs hitch but the 310GK is a much more refined and finished interior not to mention a extra slide.
If you end up installing one please post results.

Our local GDRV dealer along with selling several other brands over the last 60 or so years uses a welding shop a few blocks from the dealership to weld a HD hitch with a 2" receiver for about $400 for folks who a hitch installed. A few years ago and trust still the same today, LCI will claim this will void the frame warranty but LCI will install a hitch for you at an LCI service center for twice the money which will not void the frame warranty. How do you like them apples !

I guess it depends on how important the hitch is to the person. "Twice" the money may be worth it.

As I posted over in the solitude section, we had one install it bolts to the frame and is welded to the bumper. Looks like it would be good for at least 500 lbs or so. I'll see if there's any paper work.
