    Overnight parking at Walmart

Don’t know ifbis going to be a trend, company policy or what but local Walmart here in Salem and Woodbury Oregon have posted signs No overnight RV parking vehicles parked after closing hours will be towed. The Dallas Oregon will allow one night only. So much for having a well lighted pretty safe place to pull into when traveling.

Most of the time, it's the local government has an ordinance against it. Always best to check in advanced.

City here doesn't allow it. After the fire there were about 20 RVs in the Walmart parking lot off and on for a few weeks. A lot of times I see people spend the night and then leave the next morning and I don't think anyone says anything so it probably depends on how vigilant the local LEOs are.

I've read where campground owners and lobbyists have had a state legislature pass laws against overnight camper parking in a store lot. Stores are in retail sales business, not campground business. When you stay in a store parking lot for free the local campground doesn't make any money. Look at it from their point of view.

Never thought of it that way. I think where we live it's more an issue of people trying to live in a shopping center parking lot rather than trying to avoid paying a campground to stay over night so the city nips this in the bud. We always over night in a campground. Usually a KOA or county park. For us it's part of the experience. County parks, BTW are an undiscovered jewel I think. Most of the ones we've stayed at are really nice and reasonably priced.

I've stayed in walmart or a truck stop before to get a few hours of shut-eye. Usually just slept in the truck and personally I feel it is better to do that versus wake up a bunch of people in a campground pulling in late just to stop for some shuteye. Usually only a problem for me when I'm driving half way across the country for a wheelin' event.

Some Wal-Mart's are located in places you really shouldn't be spending the night in. They may be doing you a favor.

Buy a Wal-Mart Rand McNally road atlas and it has all the Wal-Mart locations and phone numbers. Call ahead.

I didn't any relevant information about this app, it would be helpful, if you could give the link to the app.

Cities with Walmarts along busy interstates often ban RV parking for the reasons mentioned above. Kingman AZ is one of those places. We have stayed at the Walmart in Las Vegas NM and discovered what teenage kids do in Las Vegas NM on Saturday night. They race around the Walmart parking lot all night.
