    The breakaway cable should not be attached to the hitch. It should be attached to the bed/frame of the truck, a solid connection like a cargo bolt etc. In theory, the whole hitch could pull away from the truck and e-brakes would not engage. J.M.O. I also have the pull-rite superglide

    NW Minn - we do the same with our 16K/2700 hitch. Hank in post #31 shares some good feedback.......the key is that hitches/release handles/designs/etc. are different not to mention what is or is not hauled in the bed so it is important to ensure that the cable cannot make contact with anything which may pull the brakeaway lock pin. The pickup bed wind turbulence can be quite violent when towing and this combined with possible turning "catch or snag" points need to be carefully evaluated to ensure proper mounting of the trailer emergency brakeaway cable.

    I wrap mine around the rear bumper of the truck (just under where the license plate is).
