I tow a 2017 337RLS with a Ford Superduty 6.2 gas engine just fine..I may not get up the mountain ten minutes ahead of a fancy diesel rig,but get there just the same..and a lot less maintenance. I know a thing or two about diesel's,I was a diesel mechanic for 20 years...different strokes for different folks.

In terms of quality control GD is second to none. They have invested alot of $$$ into their Pre-Delivery Inspection process. They monitor this Forum and respond to issues, as well as taking suggestions to heart. Our factory rep stays in touch with us on a weekly basis and is only a phone call/text away, 24/7/365. We are very proud to be a GD dealership.

My wife and I are just about to join the RV community. After many RV shows and hours research we decided the GD 27RL is right for us. We found a 2017 about 5 hours from our Maryland house and liked what we saw. I admit to having some trepidation buying a used RV, especially since the dealer indicated they had to reseal around two vents. I decided to hire an RV inspector to give the unit a complete scrub before buying. We found Jim Dinwiddie, a NC-based certified inspector who used to inspect aircraft for a living. He spent an entire day with the unit and examined hundreds of elements in 29 categories. We received an exhaustive 62-page report with pictures. He found four items we need to have a technician inspect/repair: 15" soft spot in the roof near one of the resealed vent covers, a possible leak in the sewage dump valve, LR AC that's not cooling and we need to verify brakes are engaging properly (he didn't do a road test.) Assuming the dealer agrees to correct these items we'll purchase the RV in a week or two. I certainly feel much better knowing I invested in a pre-purchase inspection.

Michael, what a great idea to get a pro inspection. Didn't know they existed. 62 pages sounds mighty thorough. That's more than a home inspection I had done a while back. Mind if I ask about how much the inspection cost?
BTW, a lot of tank valves leak a little. I used to get a cup or so when uncapping the drain. Pretty common. A Valterra valve on the drain pipe takes care of it.

The inspection was $450. I found my inspector through the National RV Inspector's Association (https://nrvia.org/). If you're interested in seeing what the report looks like let me know and I'll email a copy.

The more research we did the more of a no brainer it was to get a GD. No regrets!!!

We are former Forest River owners, current GD owners. We are not FR bashers. Our FR product was perfect from day one and we had a very good dealer who helped with maintenance and upgrades. We bought our GD from the same dealer.
We are not fulltimers, only weekends and vacations for us. We don't put the daily wear and tear on a unit that fulltimers do. All things considered, our Imagine is the perfect camper for us. It's light enough I can pull it with a half ton but made better than anything I could tow without upgrading my tv.
We have camping friends with Keystone products. Their campers have really deteriorated in a couple seasons, not due to neglect or misuse. Glad we didn't buy one.
Not saying you can't get a good unit from another manufacturer but I think you have a better chance with GD.2018 Imagine 2800bh
