So after a long day, I was able to fix all of the rafters for my initial $50 and my labor. 1 by one, I got them all straight and glued to the outer edge of the camper.
Here is the finished product:
And a before and after:
I will add some vertical screws into the aluminum framing to lock everything into place when I take off the roof sheathing during the partial roof replacement. I'm planning only going back about 18 feet from the nose since I found out this coach has already had a roof replacement due to staples coming through the plywood and membrane.
One thing I think is strange is that whoever did the roof:
A) Used white epdm even though the slide-outs have tan
B) Covered the osb in luan trying to hide the staples instead of fixing the actual problem.
So I will have to get creative with how I blend everything (if necessary)
On to the next step, fixing the crushed air ducts. This actually took a while because of how flimsy the ducting is, and I wanted it to be pretty perfect so I spent some time here. As you can see some of the ducting was pretty smooshed, and in a tricky spot.
I figured since the factory uses metal splices inside of these, I would use some aluminum flashing inside to help restore the original 8x2 outside dimension. I used the flashing in some different methods and a lot of foil tape to get things back into shape...so to speak.

So after some effort, we went from this:
To this:
I had to do this on both duct runs and sealed up all of the pinholes and such for a good seal. I ran the AC fan and was really impressed with how quiet this Attwood AC is so far.
Another shot or two of a support I made to help keep the duct open in one spot.

Very impressive work! The damage inside looks much worse than the first outside photo you shared. Thanks for sharing your progress with us!

Thanks for starting this topic, looking great so far! With the ceiling down, might be a good time to run some extra wires for future stuff, HDMI, Cat-5, etc.

Yes I agree. On one hand the body is untouched by any damage...I could sell it as new as far ar the outside is concerned. On the other hand, I was a little pissed when I got to the auction and opened the door. They were very deceptive with the pics....but I got it for such a good price I quickly calmed down.

One of the things I love about your pictures is that it gives us a better idea of the construction techniques that the factory uses.

Thanks for sharing the photos and details of your restoration. I appreciate your attention to detail in explaining your process. The carpenter in me wants to be working along side of you on this project. As others have said, it is good to see the structure, and what a great time to make it better by running new wiring, solar conduit and cleaning up the hidden messes. Looking forward to following your progress.
