    Suburban propane oven issue

Brand New rig and we just tried to use the oven for the first time yesterday and it has a slight bit of smoke that smelled like maybe electronics. I'm just wondering if there's a break in procedure the first few uses or does this go away or should we not try to use it at all!?

It's 100% normal. When I got ours I set it to the max temp for about 90 minutes with the windows, doors and vents open. Same for the furnace.

Normal. The smoke and smell is from the lubricants and coatings they used during the manufacturing process. Just like firing up a new gas grill. Stinks, but it's not harmful.

Same here, but it took forever for the stove to get hot then burned the Lasagna down the middle. We have added a pizza stone to help disperse the heat.

    Thanks for the comments above.

We used our stove last night after about 6 months in the rig. We had not done a burn off. (never thought about that). We added the cooking stones for baking and thought something had gone wrong. In a closed up rig it is strong smell and yes the smoke dector activated a little. We shut off the oven and waited till morning not seeing any thing burnt or melted and started checking the forums. Biggest issue was NO hot cookies and milk.

During the day we set the oven to high (not broil) and opened the windows. After about 30 minutes it was burned off and no smell.

Last night I was a bit on the nervous side as it is a smell of plastic or wiring burning that actually caused a bit of a sore throat until we got things opened up. No sign of any issue so I expected it was the insulation burning in.

If you have not burned off your stove (as I believe there are many do not use the stove) we would recommend doing so as I said it was quite a smell in a closed rig on a cold night but more important NO hot cookies, maybe tonight.
