2018 F-150 - How it does pulling
Anyone have the new 2018 F-150? I am looking at them now and curious as to how they pull. looks like they have beefed it up a bit and added more HP and torque. I have a 2015 and its ready to be turned in from the lease.
Thanks,
KC

The F150 is quite capable of hauling and stopping the 11,000 lb trailer that it is rated for, particularly if you get the Ecoboost powertrain. The limits are the hitch receiver if you are considering a TT and payload for either a TT or 5th wheel. The max (factory) hitch receiver is a Class IV rated at about 1200 lbs with a WD hitch. This will limit you to about an 8000 lb trailer. Payload for the trailer tow package which is fairly common on the dealers’ lots will be about 1800 lbs for a crew cab 4x4. If you are willing to factory order the available heavy payload package, this gets you an F150 which is much better prepared for hauling that TT or a 5th wheel up to about 10,000 lbs. The HDPP includes additional rear leaf springs, a heavier rear axle and LT tires (rather than the standard passenger car tires) resulting in a payload of about 2500 lbs. I have a 2014 version of the HDPP Ecoboost and have towed our 10,000 lb 5th wheel over 15,000 miles with no issues. From others who have the newer version of this truck, I have learned that the towing capabilities are the same or better, but other features of this truck keep getting better. It makes a great daily driver for the 80% of the miles that are not towing. It is time for a new truck for us too . . . and this will be another HDPP F150.

Rob our son is a master mechanic and the head mechanic in the shop that he is at. He believes that Ecoboost is one of the best engines on the market. He sees less problems from it then most other engines.

I hope this isn't to far off topic -
My wife has a 2016 Escape with the little EB engine. That sucker is snappy. By the same token, my recently acquired F350 with the 6.7L is pretty impressive, too. Its unlike any diesel I've every driven and will definately set you back in your seat when you romp on it.
I know my wife won't help me answer this question, so I'll ask here - who would win a drag race, the Escape EB or diesel super duty?John and Jean
