We have had toppers - not on your type of rig but on two other 5ers. We elected not to put them on our new Solitude because we decided we do not like the way the flap in the wind.

Yes, I had one installed by the dealer. I am so glad we did. We have no wind flap noise.

I have not experienced comments from my customers regarding wind noise with a topper. The benefit of slide cleanliness and not having to climb on the roof or pack a ladder outweighs the gentle rippling humming melody of the slide topper concert.

My toppers also flapped in the wind to the point that I removed them. Maybe if you live in a state without much wind you would be fine. Try Texas where it seems to blow most of the time. The wind tore one of them after about the third camping trip.

Its probably depending on a couple of things: how lose was the material when installed and the size of the slide.

I'm glad I happened across this thread. We just purchased a 2970RL Imagine and I'd like to have slide toppers put on. So the question is, at what approx wind speed to they become problematic? I mean if I have to put my slides in every time there's a breeze forget it. Thing is, a vast majority of our trailer use will be in the trees and I really don't want to have to climb up there at the end of every weekend to clean off tree debris before sliding in the slides.

I believe some folks put large diameter foam rollers or pool noodles between the slide roof and topper to prevent flapping and water build up.

Like others, I had some serious wind flapping issues when camping near the beach where there was constant wind. When I bought our 303 I elected not to get them gain due to that reason. Now I just blow the slides off with a small blower before I put them in. The low tech way would be to climb up with a broom.

If a topper end starts flapping, I use a golf cart inner tube . . . see post #18 on this thread https://www.mygrandrv.com/fo...topper-or-not?
