Here is what your control panel may look like if you have a three way fridge like my Dometic:

I too travel with fridge on propane. But I do turn it off if I am to travel through long tunnels. Some areas forbid fuel tanks of any kind in tunnels.

Just my 2 cents...... I was on the fence about this, have done both. Last June we were heading down from Glacier Nat'l Park and traveling south on 93 through Idaho along the Salmon River. Two lane road and came upon an accident on a curve where a small car had crossed over the double yellow line and sideswiped a Class A. Damage to the driver side of the Class A and a storage door ripped open. Everything above the door was scorched from a fire for about 4 feet. Fire Dept and ambulance were on scene so we did not stop. Only thing I could figure was a propane line was severed and caused a fire. Even if that isn't exactly what happen, it sure made me think. Now we just either put some frozen water bottles in the fridge and freezer or pack the Yeti.

We run our fridge on electric while traveling and switch to propane when we set up.
