LOL....nope. It was just one of (actually thousands) of weird questions that came to my mind. It might have something to do with the wife saying stuff like, "Uhhhh.....you do know it's a 45mph zone and that you're towing - don't you?". I'm honestly not a speed demon.
I dunno.....maybe in a warped way, I hope that I can put speeding while towing on my resume. HAHAHAHAHAHA...........

I didn’t get pulled over, but the very nice trooper in Connecticut flashed his high beams at me from behind when I was doing about 75 in a 50 in the left lane (at night). Then he proceeded to bark at me on the PA to slow down and stay out of the left lane. He was a very nice man.

I know one guy that should have been pulled over. While driving north on I-75, not towing, in a light misty rain, doing about 73 mph in a 70 zone, a guy towing a Salem 5th wheel passed me. After several miles he pulled into the middle lane and I eventually passed him. He was gone from my mirrow for quite awhile, and then he was back. He again passed me and was never seen again. IMHO that's too fast on dry roads let alone the rain we were getting at that time.

I was pulled over, but not ticketed. We were headed to San Bernadino on I15 going down Baker Grade. I had my old Kawasaki Mule in the bed of the truck and was pulling my Springdale. I had the cruise set at 70 when I passed a CHP officer and his sergeant who were stopped on the side of the road. The sergeant pointed at me as I passed and the trooper took off after me. He first came off like a lion but eventually calmed down and was actually okay. He chewed me out for going 70 in a 55 zone (even though the speed limit is 75, vehicles towing are restricted to 55 in CA). He told me I could get away with 60 and no more, then gave me a written warning. So I set the cruise at 60 and it seemed like everybody was passing me, including an old fart in a motorized chair. I got a few miles down the road and kicked it back up to 70. Never was hassled the rest of the way.
There, I confessed!

I don't speed. Have never gotten a speeding ticket. Wouldn't think of speeding while towing. I never created a wake inside the harbor buoys in a boat and always observed the airspeed limits in terminal control areas (TCAs) in aircraft. My first wife was killed by someone who was speeding. 'Nuff said.

Wow Rob, I don't know what to say. I completely understand your passion in this as losing a loved one, especially under such circumstances, would leave a hole that just cannot be filled. My daughter in law was killed on her way to work by a truck driver who made a right hand turn and violated the crosswalk she was in. She left behind my son and 3 small children. Because of their financial situation they live(ed) with us so we experienced first hand the devastation. It's been just over a year and my son is still... well, you know. I don't think any of us meant any disrespect, and we were thinking this was a jovial topic. I apologize if my response was hurtful to you in any way. Perhaps this topic should end. All the best!
