New to GD, I purchased an Imagine 2400BH
Hello,
I'm not new to travel trailers, however I'm new to Grand Design. I have been through hell with the last (2) trailers I have owned. I have been told GD is one of the best, the Rolls Royce of trailers. I'm picking up the new unit on the 23rd, is there anything I should look out for during the walk-thru. Maybe a a flaw that is common from the factory.
Thanks for the feedback.

Welcome aboard...I have the exact same unit...the Rolls Royce of trailers title would probably belong to Airstream, but Grand Design's are super nice and have great customer service!

Welcome to the forum. I like that floor plan. I don't know of any modal flaws with that model. If you want, check out some of these pre delivery inspection sheets that are in the reference library. They will give you a good idea of what to look for during delivery:

Welcome
We have your model's big brother, a 2800bh. Got it in September last year, camped 3 times for a total of 10 nights, only problem a broken screen door latch.
IMO, very well built with quality materials for the pricepoint. Not the quality of a Reflection series but not the price either.2018 Imagine 2800bh

I love the 2400BH floor plan. We can't wait to get on the road. This is our first TT and trying to prepare for tons of fun and hopefully minor issues.

Wow I like the chase lounge option. I'm in a similar boat, I don't have a GD but a different brand with my eye on a new 2400bh.
jking46 Without starting a towing war, can I ask what your towing capacities are with your ram 1500.
I only ask bc I have a silverado 1500 and my towing capacities are too low I think for the
2400bh and I saw you have the bigger 2800 model
My numbers are
Payload 1600
Gvw truck 6500
Max trailer weight 6900
Gcwr 12000
I've been making some calls about the new GD xls 21bhe floor plan. I'm much more comfortable with the weight.Last edited by Sweedish15; 03-25-2018 at 08:47 PM.

No towing war. The 2 numbers you need to be concerned about are payload and towing capacity. Half tons typically run out of payload b4 towing capacity.
My truck...payload. 1440
towing. 8850
2800bh.....mgvw. 7500
tongue. 900
Tongue weight is an estimate. 12% 7500 = 900. I went with the highest realistic number but we would never have that much gear loaded. We don't travel with water and it's normally just the boss and me. Grandkids come along frequently but are many times brought by their parents.
So for the truck, payload is 1440, minus 900 tongue, leaves 540 lbs for wife, dogs, anything else in the truck.
So, close on payload, big cushion on towing.
Real world....towing in flat midwest, truck performs great. Tons of power, excellent brakes. Only issue is soft rear suspension. Coils tend to allow a bit of porpoising on some roads. Adding air bags this spring to firm things up a bit.
Any other questions, just ask.2018 Imagine 2800bh
