Keebler has the outside covered fairly well. I worked out of town for nearly a year and I would suggest that you get a toaster or toaster oven, pots and pans, spatulas, big spoons, knives, dish set (plates, cups, bowls), silverware set, outdoor grill and grill accessories and coffee maker. It gives a little better feel of home if you are eating off of a plate instead of using paper plates all the time, pots and pans to rustle up something quick and to add side dishes to meals, the outdoor grill for steaks, fajitas, chicken, sausage or whatever you like to grill. A comfortable outdoor chair, a small table and a few good books and/or movies helps the days pass faster. I found that campers are a lot better to visit with than hotel visitors. After I got settled and in a good routine, our fellow campers started doing a "pot-luck" supper on Thursday night. Good food and good visiting made the stay much more enjoyable. Plus that first cup of coffee without having to go to Starbucks, hotel lobby or McD's starts the day so much better!

Good luck, I think that you will enjoy the camper much more than the holiday-hotel.

The landing gear motor uses a 30A in-line fuse. I had just pulled into our camp site and was setting up. To remove the WD bars I have to lift the trailer slightly in order to remove the chains. So with truck still attached to trailer, I begin to raise the trailer when the landing gear motor quits. Can't get it to start to save my life. I call the dealer to explain and get tells me about this in-line fuse. Great! Now the problem is: I can't unhook the trailer from the truck, and the landing gear is extended, so I can't even tow the trailer to go buy a fuse. Fortunately one of the maintenance guys at the park drove me to a nearby WalMart where I was able to buy a pack of fuses. Had we been out in the "middle of nowhere" we'd have been in a real fix.

    Jim,

Didn't your electric jack come with a manual override crank? That should have allowed you to raise or lower the TT by hand. Mine was a Baker 32454. The ability to use that manual override came in handy a couple of times.

No, none that I could find. I have the Lippert Power Tongue Jack. I tried to download the manual for it but I get a 404 error.

EDIT: I found the manual doing a Google search, and I see a picture of the override crank handle and think I may have seen this tucked away in the trailer. I'll check it out next time I'm there. Thanks for that info!

    You can also use a socket (3/4 or 5/8 I think) and a short extension and your ratchet. . . . .

Back to the OP's question. Maybe not a "must have" but certainly a "real-nice-to-have" are the following:

    1. Air compressor
    2. Accurate tire pressure gauge
    3. Hand held infrared thermometer
    4. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
    5. Small, LED flashlights (These little guys are awesome, especially at $3 a piece)
    6. Valterra Dump Valve (wouldn't THINK of not having this with me)

OK, so back to this one....

If you've done this by hand, how difficult was it to RAISE the trailer? I'm sure lowering it would be easier, but in the situation that I had, I needed to raise the trailer. I keep a cordless 18v impact wrench in my truck (200 ft/lbs torque). Would that be enough to raise it?

It wasn't hard either way (up or down), just a lot of turns, I mean a lot. . . . I would think a cordless impact would do it with ease (wasn't apart of my tool kit at the time). . . .

You want a broom, a can opener, bottle opener, corkscrew, knife.

You want paper and pen to write down what you need, and a credit card for immediate needs.

Of course you need basics like chocks, etc already addressed.

Don’t forget to take your patience and sense of humor.

Great add Kay & Dave, It would be hard to "rustle" up some vegies with out the can opener. We bought a Red Devil stick vacuum instead of a broom, but same concept.
