I have always greased the hitch ball using yur basic chassis grease. Thing to remember is that the ball is hardened, but the coupling and ball latch is not. Guess which will wear faster and is more difficult to notice...

    Jim,

Off topic, but I've been meaning to ask you. Where did you get the .jpg of your ribbons and badges? I'd like to post mine but haven't found a good source. And Thank You for your service!

Any axle or chassis grease. Any kind is better than none. One thing to keep in mind is that grease attracts dirt, so clean the ball every once in awhile.

John, I went out in the internet, found a place that sells awards & decs, copied and pasted them one by one into PowerPoint, then saved the PowerPoint as a .jpg file. From there I resized the image to fit in a signature.

I simply used Windows 10 Snipping Tool. That way they were all the same sizes.

    I sent you a PM.

Yes, you definitely want to wipe the ball each time you use it. I stick some paper towels into the socket on the trailer and wipe it as best I can as well. I do the same for my WDH points.

We've always greased using Equalizer lubricant >> https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories...kaAi53EALw_wcB and we also put a cap on ball to avoid getting grease all over the place when not hooked up.

I've been using a dry lube. Seems to work pretty well and doesn't attract dirt like grease does. Also isn't as messy.

I have never greased my ball for the bumber pulls I had. Don't have to worry about getting grease on the pant legs.
