    Living room thermostat (297RSTS)

So on our last trip I noticed the thermostat in the living room (297rsts) would run 1 maybe 2 cycles then it won’t trigger the unit regardless of temp setting. I have to turn thermostat off then it starts again but only for the one or two cycles

    Thoughts?

The 297 furnace is located in the hutch. The thermostat is mounted on the hutch wall. When you run the furnace, the air space in the hutch heats up and warms the wall too. This causes the thermostat to think the room is warmer than it really is and tells the furnace to shut off. I solved the problem by pulling out the hutch drawers and stuffing insulation in the wall.

Thanks Jim but this is while running the A/C. And I put the thermostat down to it’s lowest setting and it still wouldn’t turn on

And I'll ask the obvious question. Is the temperature in the room warmer than the lowest setting?

Ha ha. Yes. I did in fact find a large gap in the foam separating the return air. I removed the baffle added some weather stripping and some gorilla tape to secure the piece closest to the cover bc it too was not flush. Since then it’s been purring

Lol. Sorry had to ask. You'd be surprised at some things we see here.
