Blackstone 17' Griddle converted to use camper's low pressure propane port

Check out Blackstone 17' Griddle, you can cook a lot of things with it and it's easy to clean. Have converted it to use low pressure port on camper and ordered 2nd regulator from Blackstone so can still use 1 lb bottles. You have to use pipe from 1st regulator to connect to griddle; just take off regulator and screw on adapter below - be sure to use plumber's paste to prevent leaks at joints. I carry a one burner Coleman Propane Stove for anything that requires burner, like boiling water, chili, coffee pot, etc. Walmart carries the 17" Blackstone Griddle in grill area.

Put description of fittings and hose in case links get lost, just search for them on Amazon. You need 3 fittings and extension hose to make it work. You use pipe that has regulator on it that came with Griddle. Don't use regulator that came with Griddle; you can't have 2 regulators on same line; you already have regulator connected to your camper's propane tanks, this is only regulator you need.

The main advantage of Griddle is it is versatile and very easy to clean. Ordered cover and carrying bag for it from Amazon.

Search for this fitting on Amazon(this is most important hard to find fitting); it is one that connects to end of pipe that comes with Blackstone Regulator; all other fittings are NPT fittings that can be found at most hardware stores or gas company stores:

Trico FA-1007 Brass Central Lubrication Straight Adapter, 5/16"-24 Female x 1/8" NPT Male

FasParts 1/4" Female NPT to 1/8" Female NPT FIP FPT Reducing Coupling Brass Pipe Fitting Fuel / Air / Water / Boat / Gas / Oil WOG

Camco Propane Quick-Connect Fitting -For Use with Low-Pressure Propane Systems, Easy Install 1/4" NPT x Full Flow Male Plug (59903)

SHINESTAR 12feet RV Quick Connect Propane Hose Extension -1/4” Safety Shutoff Valve & Male Full Flow Plug for Low Pressure System

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    https://www.amazon.com/Blackstone-Ta...le+top+griddle

    Instructions:
    1. Remove regulator from end of pipe that came with Griddle and insert Trico fitting on threaded end of pipe using plumbers paste to prevent leaks.
    2. Install other 2 fittings using plumbers paste.
    3. Connect hose and Griddle after making connects
    4. Connect to low pressure on camper and turn on propane, use soapy water and check for any leaks at all connections including camper's quick connect.
Now season Griddle per instructions that came with it and your ready to cook.

I've been wondering about this. I'd like to similarly mod the Iwatani butane grill. I'm thinking it should be possible to substitute propane for butane. This little grill has a lot of heat output. It'd be great for wok cooking.

For some reason your Amazon links are working.

Can you lost some pics showing how you assembled all the products?

I wish I had found this grill before I bought my bbq. May be switching it out in the future. Looks great and great reviews.

    Buckskin,

Thanks for the great write up and instructions to include the parts. I had the hose and quick connects already, and just ordered the two brass fittings you provided the links to. I received the griddle today and have already seasoned it.

    Thanks again!

    Buckskin,

I need some help. Here’s a pic of the parts I bought. I can’t fogure out how to connect them, or if I need something else. As you can see I removed the regulator. I have the hose already, just need to get the parts onto the griddle. Can you help?

I did this mod a few months ago. It is a nice setup...
