Had to try leveling 4 times
OK - I am a newbie. Took our 2017 303RLS out a few weeks ago on a trial run overnight and backed into a nice site — looked semi-level. Disconected the truck, hit auto-level and it errored out after attempting. Limit check. Hooked the truck back up, put some boards under appropriate side/wheels, backed in, unhitched and had the same problem. Took two more attempts before I got it right — 40 degrees and downpour. The pain is I had to hitch and unhitch each time — probably took 45 minutes in the rain. Any tips for how to avoid this in the future. I have a 3 foot level in the storage compartment and should have probably used it but even then I am not sure I would know how much on-level or close to level I need to be.

Were the low side jacks running out of stroke? Did you try some cribbing under them?

Need a little more info. That does not sound like fun in the rain. You said semi-level, what does that mean? Are the jacks supported with wood already? did they sink in the mud from the rain? Have you already calibrated the rig? Something does not sound right. I would not be happy
The LCI Ground Control 3 system only allows a 5 degree variance from front to back.....or as Rob tells me: bow to stern (but he does not have this system)
On the right to left, not sure on the allowed angle or slope, but really, I just eyeball it and if it looks excessive, I throw down a 2x10 or whatever it needs.

I always toss a board under the jacks so all of them had something. I was just low on the driver side. When it errored out the first time it looked like the driver side wheels were almost gonna lift off the gravel. The last time when I pulled the trailer forward, I raked some gravel out from under where the trailer wheels would rest on the entry side and that did the trick because it worked. Semi-level is pretty subjective I admit. The landscape was definitely pitching toward the driver side but the people who prepared the site seemed to drop a lot of gravel in there to level it. Maybe I need to use my level when I first pull in to see how severe the pitch is.

Next time you get a chance, maybe do a recalibration. Seems odd?
I can't remember the procedure from memory but was easy. If you don't know, can get it tomorrow for you unless someone here does. I would start there.
