    Short bed towing

I have a Ram 3500 with the 6'4" bed. Planning the anderson ultimate 3220 hitch. Is a Solitude different from Reflection towability with the short bed?

Can you provide more specifics about your Ram? Diesel or Gas? SRW or DRW? Axle ratio? Also which specific Reflection or Solitude model are you considering? The Solitude weighs more, has higher hitch pin weights, is wider, is taller and can carry more cargo. Depending on these factors, the towability may be different between them.

Yes, thanks. 6.7 liter diesel w/aisin trans, 3.42 axle ratio, SRW. Torn between Solitude 310GK, or the Reflection 320MKS or 337RLS

If you're just asking about the differences between the Reflections and the Solitudes, the Solitudes are wider - which will further restrict the angle you can achieve between the truck and trailer when turning (forward or backing). With our Reflection, and when we were running an Andersen in a GMC with a 6'6" bed, we had to position the hitch ball to the rear and turn the adapter around so it was behind the king pin. This effectively reduces the radius of the pin box and was to prevent contact with the bed rails when turning. I could get the truck and trailer to about a 75 - 80 degree angle with that setup. I doubt you would be able to accomplish that with the wider-bodied Solitudes.

I have a Solitude 379 and a short bed ford. I use the B&W Companion slider with under-mount turnover ball system. Works great.

Yes, turning capability with the Anderson + short bed was what I was after. Thanks for the Reflection info...anyone out there using a similar setup on the wider Solitude?

It’d be very, very tight. I wouldn’t do it. I’d get a slider so you wouldn’t have to worry about it.

I have a Reflection and use the PullRite Auto Slider on my Ram short bed. I love it. I never need to worry about wether or not I’ll ever hit the cab when turning.

I have a 2013 Ram 2500 Crew SB with a 6.7 and using the Andersen Ultimate with a Solitude 310gk, have only towed twice once from the dealer in Utah back to Co. in real bad wind and blowing snow and from my house to a dealer in Fountain. Have had no issues. Adding Airbags this week thou. I have the ball mount on the pin hitch facing forward.
